Happy New Year … Where did 2009 go?

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post!   The holidays were very busy (I’m sure you all can relate) and I am so glad they are over.  Now I can get back into a “normal” routine and hope to keep up with blogging.

Just to add to all the holiday hoopla, we decided that December was the time to install wood flooring.  Just HAD to have it in before Christmas.  You can see from the picture above that it came out just beautifully!  We did the work ourselves … or should I say, my husband did all the hard work and I “supervised”.

There is still more work to be done, but it’s coming along slowly but surely.  Next projects: installation of carpet and baseboards.

In August we had someone paint the exterior and in October we had a contractor paint the interior.  After 13 years in the house, we finally got rid of the “builder white” and painted the walls with Sherwin Williams Whole Wheat.  I chose this color after reading Rhoda’s Southern Hospitality blog and the paint party posts at Melissa’s 320 Sycamore blog. I also picked two other colors from the same paint strip, and hope to show more pictures in the near future.
My DS#2 came home for the holidays and has been here since the first week of December.  It’s been wonderful having him home even if it is for a short while.  He and his dad went hiking near San Diego last week and my husband took this picture:

Sure do miss him!  Don’t we wish they could stay little and we could stay young forever … If you have a chance, please stop by my other blog “Quiltpiecer” to see the quilt I made him:  “In The Line of Duty”.

So, until next time …

count your blessings and not your crosses
